Generate a Fiber Internal BOM Report

  1. From the BOM section of the Fiber Tab Bentley Fiber menu, select the Internal BOM icon to display the following options:

  2. Choose a method for selecting the features to include in the BOM report--By Fence, By Shape, Local, or Global.
    • By Fence: Prompts the user to place points to create a fence. Clicking the reset button after placing points closes the fence.
    • By Shape: A prompt to identify an element displays. For this command to be properly completed, the element being selected must be a polygon.
    • Local: Internal BOM on all features queried into the active file.
    • Global: Internal BOM report on all fiber features in the project.
  3. After choosing one of the four methods, the Internal Report dialog box displays:

  4. Click the Select button for the FiberCopperBOM template location—in Windows Explorer drill to your customized template or to the sample Template location if using Commstownspatial:

    C:\Program Files\Bentley\Communications 2023\OpenCommsDesigner\SampleData\Communications Spatial\WorkSets folder by default.

  5. Highlight the template file and click Open.
  6. Select and enter the destination filename and location for the InternalBOM report and click Save.

  7. Check the Open this report when finished (if desired).
  8. Click Process to start the BOM creation.
  9. When finished, the Customized or Commstownspatial sample InternalBOM report will display:
